i highly approve of rants, and might use some of their hilarity in future nerdy comics, so go ahead
i've already got a script for the comic when they argue whether ninja turtles are truly ninjas...
heh

*walks up to a podium and clears his throat*
all right everyone, lets see how far we can go. Were here because someone seems to think samurai Jack is anime, or at the least better than anime and that just cant be. before we start were going to need to clarify a few defintions of what anime and Japanimation are. Excel Saga describes anime as strictly coming from Japan whilst Japanimation is foreign (usually american) attempts at making something that is anime when it really isnt. but wait you say, dont some studios export the animation process to places like Korea? (they do for the record) so were going to have to define what it means for a series to "come from" somewhere, for the purpose of this a series will come from wherever its home production studio is and not the animaion studio. those being said on to the rant proper, Samurai Jack for one doesnt even count as Japanimation as its american hack copying of anime, and they dont even try to cover it up. i mean come on, samurai JACK, what the fuck kind of name is Jack for a samurai? Jack doesnt even try and act like a Samurai though, someone really needs to teach him a thing or two about Bushi before they make another season. the premise of the series is that Jack is trapped in the future, a future controlled by Aku (blatant Japanese wannabe alert) but Jack wants to go home to stop Aku, now anyone with most basic knowldge of physics can see the time paradoxs wrote all over this not to mention how Jack got trapped there in the first place
Aku: oh no im about to lose! i know ill send him to the future but keep him on the same planet so he can hunt me there rather than the past wher ehe will be trapped indefintly. yeah, thats a GREAT idea!
so aside from the obvious fact it wants to be Japanese the plot has a few gaping holes in it. now for the anime side, since we dont have a single series to contrast with ill be general in terms and refrences. so first off the animation, well anime by general doesnt have a set rule of style but we can be broad. thanks to influence by Osama Tezuka anime is sterotyped as more of a Big eye Small mouth style but it varies, what is set is that every show hsa style unique to it and unless for the purpose of satire doesnt try to imitate others and use their fame like certin other hack cartoons. this brings us to plot, anime has to be the only genre where consistently the highest number of series occur in a linear manner, i.e. what happens in one episode affects another. while there are some exceptions a show like Samurai Jack would never be set up where each episode stands alone, doing so just isolates each episode so theres less incentive to watch the next. also the manner by which plots are handled is better in anime because a good guy can lose, heroes do die and when someone dies they stay dead, something that very rarely happens in US tv unless someone is leaving the show or something. so what have we learned today kids? first of all anime is far superior to some hack show that WISHES it was anime and second of all dont tempt me to rant
